Manage gambling restrictions across your credit and debit cards, including Pay by Bank app
To help and support our customers in managing what they spend on gambling we have introduced a new feature that allows you to voluntarily add or remove gambling restrictions on your accounts. Adding a gambling restriction lets you block transactions made to gambling related merchants, for example casinos and online betting companies, and recurring transactions such as The Postcode Lottery. Restrictions are applied individually to cards held in your name and not on behalf of any other party.
- Online and in-store
- Chip and PIN including contactless
- Digital Wallet transactions such as Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay
- Recurring card subscriptions such as The Postcode Lottery
- Pay by Bank app transactions to gambling merchants where the restrictions is applied the debit card of the relevant account
Cooling off period
After consultation with the gambling charity, GamCare, we’ve introduced a cooling off period when a request is made to remove the restriction. This means that you can choose to remove a gambling restriction at any time, however transactions will still be declined until the same time the following day after the restriction is switched off. This cooling off period allows thinking time to consider if the decision to gamble is correct for you. If at anytime within the cooling off period you change your mind and wish to continue with the restriction in place, the removal can be cancelled.
