Proof of Identification and Verification of Address

The list below confirms the documents that can be accepted to confirm your Identity and Address for applicants aged 18 and above. Please note the document must be an original and the same document can not be used for identification and address verification.

1. Identification

Driving licence

  • Paper - must be a full UK licence. A duplicate licence is acceptable but a provisional licence is not.
  • Photocard – a duplicate licence is acceptable. A provisional licence is only acceptable for individuals aged under 18.
     

Passport
This must be a current full passport, and must not have expired.


 

Identity card

This must be a national identity card, and include your photograph.


 

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) (formerly Inland Revenue) Tax Notification

The documentation must have been issued in the current tax year, must be in your name and show your current address in full.

 

Acceptable examples:

  • PAYE Coding Notice
  • HMRC Notification of Working Family Tax Credit
  • HMRC Notification of Childrens Tax Credit
  • HMRC Notification of Disabled Persons Tax Credit
  • HMRC Tax Calculation.

P45's and P60's are not acceptable.

 


2. Address verification

Bank, building society or credit union statement or passbook

Containing current address and showing activity (ie, customer transactions) within the last four months.


 

Council tax, local authority or water rates bill

This must be valid for the current year.

Non-UK Residents: Due to new legislation Non UK residents must always present their Passport or National Identity card when applying for an account.
